The lesser known but equally capable Model 46 is a bit more still. A nice HS Victor (my favorite HS) is generally less than a comparable S&W Model 41. If you want a good competition or general use handgun then the HS or the S&W would be easier on your wallet. There are choices other than Hammerli that could be considered. The Hammerli 215 is a plain jane version with the same quality internals, same precision but with a lesser finish. If a Hammerli is what you want, consider, in addition to the 208/208s, a 215. Higher priced ones have not been selling well and, on GB at least, are being relisted over and over. They can be found ranging from just under $1000 to just under $2000. The 208 is not usually 3X the price of the better High Standards or the Model 41s as suggested above. If you want the best possible 22LR match grade shooter then, of the three you mention, the Hammerli 208 or 208s will likely get the most recommendations. All are good choices and meet your criteria.
